    Jambali the Wealth Giver

    Are you ready for abundance?

    by Brett Krkosska

This tale of five young travellers in search of wealth and wisdom illuminates the perils awaiting those who seek riches.

The five young men gathered close around the fire. The day-long trek across the arid high plains had left them weary and discouraged. Was this journey an act of otherwise sane men?

Certainly the elders could not be mistrusted. Their constant ramblings about the man called Jambali filled the air almost daily. They said he was a man of immense wealth and wisdom. A man who freely dispensed both to any who sought it.

Yet many had travelled to the eastern mountains in search of this man, and all had returned weeks later with nothing to show but callused feet. Was it all just a wistful tale; a fantasy concocted to give the people of their desperately poor village a reason to hope? This was the question that plagued the five travellers as they bedded down for the night, their hearts full of hope and their heads full of doubt.

The sun rose to find only four travellers remaining; the fifth having let doubt win over. His note by the ashes of the fire implored the four to push on, but he had returned to the village, unable to pursue a journey that held no promise.

And so the four travellers hiked throughout the morning and reached the tree line of the eastern slopes by mid-day. It was a welcome escape from the relentless heat of the desert sun. They had not walked more than 100 yards beneath the shade of the trees, when they happened across an old woman.

They told the woman of their quest to find a man called Jambali, and asked if she knew where to find him. She exclaimed that they were indeed fortunate, for he was a nomad and was camped for the day just over the next rise. She bid them caution however, as he was not fond of unannounced strangers to his camp.

Thanking the old woman, they hastily made their way to the rise and thereupon did devise a plan. One of them would ascend the rise to investigate the layout of the camp and then report back to the others. In this way they could best decide upon a method of entering the camp.

They elected a scout, and he ascended the rise while the others anxiously waited. After a short time the scout returned looking forlorn and discouraged. He announced to the others that he did not see the camp of a wealthy man, rather was it the camp of a pauper. He spoke of a man dressed in rags and a tent of simple design.

And then this traveller did proclaim their journey a fool’s adventure, and he marched back into the desert with a heavy heart.

The remaining three travellers were not so easily dissuaded. One was elected and he ascended the rise to scout the camp. He shortly returned with a puzzling report. Not only was this man without wealth, but he was also crazy. He told of a man standing in front of his tent waving his arms wildly in the air, screaming obscenities at an unseen demon.

And as before, this traveller also proclaimed their journey a fool’s adventure, and marched back into the desert… with a perplexed heart.

The remaining two travellers had not come this far to give up so easily. One of the pair ascended the rise, only to quickly return shaking with fear. He exclaimed that the man was indeed acting crazy, but not because of an unseen demon, rather because there was a tiger crouched in the trees ready to devour the man.

This traveller hastily declared their journey a fool’s adventure, and hurried back into the desert… with a fearful heart.

The last traveller began his ascent. He reached the top and peered into the camp. He too witnessed a tiger of great ferocity, but he put his fear aside and decided to help the man defeat the beast.

He quickly fashioned a makeshift spear using a dry branch sharpened with his hunting knife. He ran down the hill and jumped between the man and the snarling tiger. He readied his weapon and was on the verge of thrusting it into the beast, when the man suddenly let out a shrill whistle and grabbed the spear from the traveller’s hands. The tiger abruptly ceased its attack, then trotted over to stand next to the man. Obviously, a cruel trick had been played upon the traveller.

Distraught over what had just transpired, the traveller demanded an explanation. The man explained that the old woman had seen the four travellers approaching from the desert, and had warned him of their arrival. He explained that his antics were designed to invite only the most sturdy of heart into his camp.

The man went on to introduce himself as Jambali the Wealth-Giver. He invited the traveller to sit beside him and tell of his journey. The traveller did so, explaining that the trip had began with five, of which he was the only one remaining. He went on to tell Jambali about his people’s belief that all who visited him would receive wealth and wisdom.

Jambali told the traveller that his people’s belief was true, but that before wealth can be possessed, one must first have the wisdom to own it.

Jambali explained, “The first traveller gave up on the first night. He did not want to work at acquiring wealth.”

“The second traveller saw a poor man’s camp. He had not the vision to perceive wealth among ordinary things.”

“The third traveller witnessed a crazy man. He had not the vision to perceive wealth among non-ordinary things.”

“The fourth traveler witnessed a man-eating tiger. He was not ready for wealth because he had not the courage to overcome fear.”

Jambali watched as the traveller digested these words. They were powerful words that sank deep into the traveller’s heart.

Then, suddenly and without notice, the traveler rose to his feet and thanked Jambali for these wealth-giving secrets. He was overwhelmed with exhilaration at the wisdom he had just received, and could barely contain his desire to depart for the village with news of his good fortune on this journey. He quickly bade Jambali farewell and promised he would tell his people what he had learned.

And so, this traveller did declare the journey a success, and he trotted into the desert with a glad heart.

As the traveller disappeared from sight, Jambali strode into his tent and filled a ruby-rimmed cup to overflowing with a dark, red wine. He drank largely, allowing the warm liquid to both caress and exhilarate his senses. A drop escaped from the corner of his mouth and momentarily danced upon his chin, as if unsure of which direction to fall before relinquishing its hold to the ground below.

Jambali tossed the cup, gestured loudly to the barren desert which had swallowed the travellers, and dispensed his last bit of wisdom, “And the fifth traveler was ready to receive wealth, yet received none, because he did not ask for it.”

  • Secrets Blocking Your Success

Posted on June 22nd, 2009 Annemarie Doolin 1 comment

For the last twenty five years, I’ve explored so many areas of metaphysics and spirituality. Bearing in mind what’s available today, you can imagine how many CDs, books, tapes etc. by the world’s highly regarded masters, I have stored away.

    ‘Stored away’ being the point!

As life’s becoming more and more successful, I’m digging them all out of the cupboard and doing the exercises. Now, if you knew how much I loathe ‘exercises’ you will wonder at what happened…and why am I doing them now, the time I’m on a roll so to speak, instead of the time I really needed them?

Point is, I didn’t get it. I’ve come across some amazing material. Every time I find something awesome, I put the kettle on and jump online to tell the world and her uncle. Did I put what I read into practice myself? Heck No!

Suddenly the word ‘dumb’ is coming to mind. I know I’m not stupid, so what’s the deal? How come, during those times when life really sucked, I told the world about my pile of lifechanging stuff and yet didn’t use it myself…just left it in a cupboard?

Many years back, in one of Jim Rohn’s seminars he expressed how puzzled he was that despite people paying $6,000 to attend the seminar, they didn’t go out and buy the one book he recommended in the seminar.

Similarly, years later, I invested in Paul McKenna’s hypnosis collection. I was experiencing a great deal of stress working for a bunch of Investment Bankers on the Trading Floor in London.

I was amazed by the results I experienced from the tapes, they worked! I was even excited about going in to work. My lungs were pumping up and down as if by magic, (go figure, it was fantastic!).

I was breathing as if I was totally relaxed although the job was very pressured and my head was saying I was stressed. Did I continue the tapes…No! (OK, that ‘dumb’ word is popping up again..)

Years later I invested in The Sedona Method. Again, I had the most amazing experience in turning my emotions around. Did I continue doing the exercises…No!

Now, my educational background has proven that I am operating at above normal intelligence levels so why on Earth didn’t I continue with something that was working. God knows I needed the help, life sucked in the most miserable way.

I pondered on this for some time and have come to realise that on some level I was actually afraid of being successful. I gave myself an even harder time because I was very ‘aware’ in terms of consciousness. I already knew the resistance was only the energetic matrix of the physical body, doing its best to hang on to the thought pattern as protection…based on the premise that “if I let go of this, what will replace it“. I knew that, and yet I was resisting with all force.

I have no doubt that Jim Rohn already knows one of the reasons why people don’t buy the book. It’s too easy. Paying $6,000 keeps the “no pain, no gain” programme in place right?

If you buy the book, you might get rid of the programme that life can be easy. You might get rid of the fear of being successful and have it all. Well, let’s face it, you haven’t had any practice at having all your dreams realised, how do you know you will handle it?

This explains one of the reasons why, when I needed the hypnosis tapes, I was reluctant to continue to listen to them. Studies have concluded that 83% of our belief systems are controlled by our unconscious mind and it is those programmes which continue to maintain allegiance to the disbelief that we can have it all.

Now I am enjoying life and have so many enriching and successful projects going on, I have no problem devoting an hour a day to listen to the tapes, I actually get excited about it. I wonder what new opportunities are going to present themselves after each session. Success attracts success.

The bizarre thing is that once you actually use the material and actually get into the habit of seeing things through, you end up cutting thousands of corners that you envisaged as potential hurdles before you got started.

You don’t need to go look for your next step, the information will come knocking on your door. The irony about success is that it comes more easily and smoothly than you can imagine when you are in that darker, disillusioned place.

As well as the your misguided beliefs and attitudes about success conditioned by society, you genetically inherit a considerable bunch of programmes from your parents. Effectively you came into the world with a few concrete blocks around your neck before you even start walking.

You know what, success is the easy part. It’s living with lack and limitation which is the hard part – and you’ve already mastered that right, so you’ve got everything to gain!

Grab it with both hands. Your success is already there for you. Instead of doubting your success, simply ask “where” is it.

If you want life to improve, start following up some of those emails that are dropping into your email box from people who have achieved the results you are looking for…release that habit to press the “move to folder” button so quickly. Keep them current, explore them and take some action NOW.

Use the concept of NOW to release any fear and resistance

Speaking about the “NOW”, we humans tend to perceive time as linear . We imagine from where we are now, the future is some point visualised to the right, ahead of us, or extending behind us.

Everything happens in the NOW. Everything is happening simultaneously in the same location. Simply put, the day on which you read this, you term as “today” right? Imagine the same date ten years from now. When you reach that day, will you be in tomorrow or yesterday, or will it be still referred to as “today”. Yes, it will be “today”. You are always in the NOW. Even ten years on, you will still be in “today”.

    How does this help?

Taking the premise that everything exists in the NOW, the future has already happened. You have already achieved everything you wanted. Therefore, you have already secured the information, the skills and the experiences you need to make it happen.

So what are you afraid of? You already have what you want within your consciousness! Whatever you are dreaming about, writing a book, living with your dream partner, securing a great marketing campaign, taking on new staff, branding a new product, setting up your own business…you’ve already done it, you’ve got a clear run. Doesn’t that put things in a better perspective.

Trust yourself, you will never let yourself down. After all, you were already born a winner. Do you know how many souls were vying for that body you are in now? And guess who won? How can you fail when you have already won? Seriously, take a moment and really GET this. You won against huge odds.

One last word before you do, make it as easy as possible. No matter how hard things seem from where you are at this moment, you can change it. Don’t dismiss it on the premise of its easy therefore it can’t work, or there’s a catch.

I have spent thousands and thousands of pounds over the past 25 years looking for very effective and easier ways to create success. It would not have been uncommon for me to take a two hour flight for a one hour healing session. That was before I discovered a more remarkably easy way to magnetise my success which I put into my book ‘Power Surge‘.

“When the solution is simple, God is answering” –Albert Einstein

I don’t believe that everyone in this Universe is destined to live a wealthy life, if we all chose a richer life, practically speaking, the world would probably cease to function.

Earth is, as many sources conclude, a Free Will zone. Simply a place to have an “experience”. I am guessing if you are reading this you have decided a rich experience would be more fun. Boy are you in for a surprise as to what’s possible – I’m embarrassed to admit how hard and how lacking I allowed my life to be before I started following my heart full-time.

Whatever’s in those pipe dreams…take some action today, you deserve to have it all

Your blocks to success are staring you in the face in the form of people, places or objects (from the country you live in to the pen on your desk)…your success is calling out to you. Unleash your wealth frequencies with ease, anyone can do it, get a closer look at your scripts… reveal the secrets now!

  • How Can I See My Success?

Posted on June 20th, 2009 Annemarie Doolin No comments

Live your life with the knowledge that the wealthy life you day dream about already exists.

Instead of asking “how can I get it”, ask “how can I SEE it?”. The word “get” suggests you don’t “have”. You DO have it, whatever it takes to create a happy life is sitting on that chair where you are right now. This change in perception will revolutionize your consciousness.

Continue to do what you always did and you will continue to have what you always had. I used to day dream about being in a fantastic relationship. A day dream was really all it could be at the time considering my perception of what was possible…. after all, what I saw in relationships around me didn’t give me much to write home about.

Twenty five years researching the metaphysics of my mind, body and spirit showed me how we are, in essence, particles of energy in movement. Energy particles that cluster together localized in a certain time and space to create everything you experience as physical. The outside is a reflection of the inside, ‘your psyche in action’. Each and every particle is a particle of Light energy, an All Knowing intelligence with unlimited access to the Universal Bank.

These particles are intelligence clustered together to form an experience. The energy particles receive their instruction to cluster based on what you give attention and intention to. What you think about, talk about, taken action on and focus on becomes real.

You’re born a winner, how can you lose…
Did you stop to consider how many millions of souls are vying for that body you are sitting in right now…and you know what, guess who won?

You have already established that you cannot fail. How can you lose a race you already won?

    So what happened?

You changed your programming that’s what. You allowed yourself to re-write your script. Yeah, it took other people and other ideas and opinions, however, ultimately you are solely responsible. No other person can make you believe anything you don’t wish to, that suggests you have no power. You will be gob-smacked to know just how much power you actually do have in your hands.

How do I return to living as a winner?
All the answers are within YOU, question is “are you Being YOU?”

Everything in your life is screaming at you. Your heart is talking to you all the time through images, voices and feelings. Your spirit talks to you through your heart. It uses everything from the country you live in, to the shoes you wear to get your attention as to how to live the success you desire.

Somewhere along the line you just stopped seeing and listening. You started listening to a world tainted by the belief that you can’t have it all, that you can’t be the person you really are and that you can’t have it easily.

    One of the reasons why young children suffer so regularly with earache is the pain directly from the part of their body expressing pain. In other words the pain is directly related to something they are hearing which either causes pain because;

    • (a) it is something they are hearing that goes against their heart’s desire; or
    • (b) it is something they are hearing which they need to take on board and they are resisting.

The body can’t create anything or think for itself, it simply works like any engine, when something is out of alignment with its design, it lets you know.

Your Spirit is the All Knowing part of your intelligence, your Higher Self (which by the way, is on great terms with the Universal Bank). Your Spirit lives inside your physical vehicle which mirrors the truth. When disalignment with your full potential occurs, your body expresses this through your physical body.

So, as with children and their frequent propensity to experience earache, the body expresses that the pain related to something they are ‘hearing’ through their ears.

What happens next? Parents can’t give them the freedom to express this pain, after all they are too busy dealing with their own pain and struggle…so solution?… medicine gets poured into their body and the body shuts up. Why? Because the body can only respond to our instructions.

However, the energy which remains imbalanced still exists in its present form. The body needs a certain amount of ‘light’, life force for organs to live. Therefore you will experience the imbalance in your body. Over time, without any harmonizing or expressing of this discomfort, the pain, will express itself as sickness in an endeavour to make sure the problem is brought to attention more strongly.

The mind, body and emotions are completely interconnected. It is true to say that you ARE what you EAT, DRINK, BREATH AND THINK.

What happens if you actually listen each time?

Yeah, you will have to change something, even if it’s something simple like opening your mind to another opinion. You feel it’s gonna hurt right? Irony is, that the pain of staying where you are is ten times more painful than the changes you might need to make.

All your daydreams are worthy of attention and intention. I didn’t really have any plans for life up until the age of 30, everything looked too miserable, no wait…I did plan my funeral for a while! – now I love waking up, life is better than I could have imagined.

    Clues, clues and more clues…
I bet you ask yourself several times a day how things got the way they are. Truth is, your heart and body are telling you all the time. They tell you when you are out of alignment with the Law of Attraction (give you a big clue, “it hurts..it costs more than you want to give!”).

That All Knowing part of you that has unlimited access to the Universal Bank is guiding you all the time, it’s giving you heavy clues as to what to do next.

The last time your friends asked you out or the last time you went to the gym, did you stop to ask yourself “Do I really want to?” Yeah, sounds simple, maybe you think it sounds dumb? Are you thinking, “Course I want to see my friends.” or “I need to go to the gym, I want to stay fit!

Well, simple it may be, however it’s a profound process that changes your life in incredibly successful ways.

Remember, the most ’simple’ processes are paramount to your ability to live. Take breathing for example, “breath in, breath out”. How simple does it get?

Checking in with yourself before you do anything enables you to express the REAL you, not the fake you are probably pretending to be. Now, I say “fake” in the most respectful way.

If you’re not living successfully, you’re not living your truth and it’s the real you who has the treasure map. The map which is going to guide you to:

    • … that relationship you are crying out for.
    • … that fat bank account; no more fear of what the postman brings,
    • … that opportunity to live a rich life doing what you love;
    • … that great feeling of wellness, happiness and vitality.

The real you has all the answers in the most amazingly perfect formula. The real you is going to manifest a rich life doing what you are naturally good at. That real you under those unloving layers is going to ATTRACT what you want in a much easier way than working your butt off.

I come from a family background where respect is determined by how hard you work. I don’t know how many times growing up I heard conversations like, “What’s he like?” “Oh, he’s a hard worker, yeah, nice guy”.

You’re not designed to work hard. You’re designed to enjoy doing what you’re passionate about, what lights your fire…there’s your clue, the energy and motivation you need comes naturally, you don’t see it as “work”. I’m busier than I’ve ever been, however it certainly doesn’t feel like work, there’s my clue.

    Wake-up call…

Up until three years ago, if you’d asked me to describe myself I would have said “hard-worker, not very ambitious, have a great interest in people, don’t care about money, extremely independent” (LOL).

I discovered that I am lazy and want as many short cuts as possible, I truly want to leave my mark on the world, I care that people are happy however I don’t want to take on responsibility for their life and experiences.

I now recognise you need to take money seriously and now very happy to accept help wherever I can as there is a limit to how much success we can create by doing things ourselves…whooah, what a wake up call that was.

Now that I listen to myself in every moment as to what I REALLY want to do and stand by it, I have manifested…a fantastic relationship, a successful business with my partner which has increased 3000% in the last 5 months, opportunities popping into my mail box on how to write successful books, articles etc. using the incredible information which is miraculously showing itself to me intuitively.

One of the biggest factors in creating success is truly being yourself. Yes, it can be confronting and can cause conflict. However, when you stand by yourself and the truth of how you feel, everything in this Universe will conspire to make what you desire happen. Asking the question and listening for a resounding ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ gives you YOUR truth.

Your blocks to success are staring you in the face in the form of people, places or objects (from the country you live in to the pen on your desk)…your success is calling out to you. Unleash your wealth frequencies with ease, anyone can do it, get a closer look at your script…reveal the secrets now!

Are you really using your true skills, find out more about the hidden truths about yourself. This Psychological Report (and also the Career Report) really helped me clear up the TRUTH.

  • The Four Emotions That Can Lead to Life Change

Posted on June 10th, 2009 Annemarie Doolin 1 comment

    by Jim Rohn

Emotions are the most powerful forces inside us. Under the power of emotions, human beings can perform the most heroic (as well as barbaric) acts. To a great degree, civilization itself can be defined as the intelligent channeling of human emotion. Emotions are fuel and the mind is the pilot, which together propel the ship of civilized progress.

Which emotions cause people to act? There are four basic ones; each, or a combination of several, can trigger the most incredible activity. The day that you allow these emotions to fuel your desire is the day you’ll turn your life around.

    1) DISGUST

One does not usually equate the word “disgust” with positive action. And yet properly channeled, disgust can change a person’s life. The person who feels disgusted has reached a point of no return. He or she is ready to throw down the gauntlet at life and say, “I’ve had it!” That’s what I said after many humiliating experiences at age 25, I said. “I don’t want to live like this anymore. I’ve had it with being broke. I’ve had it with being embarrassed, and I’ve had it with lying.”

Yes, productive feelings of disgust come when a person says, “Enough is enough.”

The “guy” has finally had it with mediocrity. He’s had it with those awful sick feelings of fear, pain and humiliation. He then decides he is not going to live like this anymore.” Look out! This could be the day that turns a life around. Call it what you will, the “I’ve had it” day, the “never again” day, the “enough’s enough” day. Whatever you call it, it’s powerful! There is nothing so life-changing as gut-wrenching disgust!

    2) DECISION

Most of us need to be pushed to the wall to make decisions. And once we reach this point, we have to deal with the conflicting emotions that come with making them. We have reached a fork in the road. Now this fork can be a two-prong, three-prong, or even a four-prong fork. No wonder that decision-making can create knots in stomachs, keep us awake in the middle of the night, or make us break out in a cold sweat.

Making life-changing decisions can be likened to internal civil war. Conflicting armies of emotions, each with its own arsenal of reasons, battle each other for supremacy of our minds. And our resulting decisions, whether bold or timid, well thought out or impulsive, can either set the course of action or blind it. I don’t have much advice to give you about decision-making except this:

Whatever you do, don’t camp at the fork in the road. Decide. It’s far better to make a wrong decision than to not make one at all. Each of us must confront our emotional turmoil and sort out our feelings.

    3) DESIRE

How does one gain desire? I don’t think I can answer this directly because there are many ways. But I do know two things about desire:

    • a. It comes from the inside not the outside.
      b. It can be triggered by outside forces.

Almost anything can trigger desire. It’s a matter of timing as much as preparation. It might be a song that tugs at the heart. It might be a memorable sermon. It might be a movie, a conversation with a friend, a confrontation with the enemy, or a bitter experience. Even a book or an article such as this one can trigger the inner mechanism that will make some people say, “I want it now!”

Therefore, while searching for your “hot button” of pure, raw desire, welcome into your life each positive experience. Don’t erect a wall to protect you from experiencing life. The same wall that keeps out your disappointment also keeps out the sunlight of enriching experiences. So let life touch you. The next touch could be the one that turns your life around.

    4) RESOLVE

Resolve says, “I will.” These two words are among the most potent in the English language. I WILL. Benjamin Disraeli, the great British statesman, once said, “Nothing can resist a human will that will stake even its existence on the extent of its purpose.” In other words, when someone resolves to “do or die,” nothing can stop him.

The mountain climber says, “I will climb the mountain. They’ve told me it’s too high, it’s too far, it’s too steep, it’s too rocky, it’s too difficult. But it’s my mountain. I will climb it. You’ll soon see me waving from the top or you’ll never see me, because unless I reach the peak, I’m not coming back.” Who can argue with such resolve?

When confronted with such iron-will determination, I can see Time, Fate and Circumstance calling a hasty conference and deciding, “We might as well let him have his dream. He’s said he’s going to get there or die trying.”

The best definition for “resolve” I’ve ever heard came from a schoolgirl in Foster City, California. As is my custom, I was lecturing about success to a group of bright kids at a junior high school. I asked, “Who can tell me what “resolve” means?” Several hands went up, and I did get some pretty good definitions. But the last was the best. A shy girl from the back of the room got up and said with quiet intensity, “I think resolve means promising yourself you will never give up.” That’s it! That’s the best definition I’ve ever heard: PROMISE YOURSELF YOU’LL NEVER GIVE UP.

Think about it! How long should a baby try to learn how to walk? How long would you give the average baby before you say, “That’s it, you’ve had your chance”? You say that’s crazy? Of course it is. Any mother would say, “My baby is going to keep trying until he learns how to walk!” No wonder everyone walks.

There is a vital lesson in this. Ask yourself, “How long am I going to work to make my dreams come true?” I suggest you answer, “As long as it takes.” That’s what these four emotions are all about.

  • What is Genius?

Posted on May 30th, 2009 Annemarie Doolin No comments

    by Dr. Tony Alessandra

    What is Genius?

Paul MacCready is a writer and inventor who has carefully studied genius and the ways people understand that concept. MacCready has evolved several categories of what genius seems to mean, and these can be useful starting point for defining what genius really is.

In the first category is what Paul MacCready calls the “everyone agrees” geniuses. These people are the great icons of civilization, including Einstein, Leonardo daVinci, Shakespeare, and Michelangelo.

Is there anybody who believes Einstein wasn’t a genius? I don’t think so — so this category is for the geniuses who are elected by unanimous consent. These are many of the same people who were mentioned in my own informal research. We’ll have much more to say about them in this session and throughout the program. In fact, most of our models for the various genius categories will be drawn from this group.

MacReady’s second category is the officially designated geniuses. These are the people who have won Nobel Prizes or other highly respected awards. Whether or not we understand what they’ve accomplished, we think of them as geniuses based on their recognition by people who are supposed to know one when they see one.

A third category includes people who haven’t yet gained national or international prominence, but who have done something so remarkable that they seem to be in a different realm from ordinary mortals. Some of these are the prodigy young people I mentioned earlier in this session — students who have won national science contests or gotten perfect scores on standardized tests.

Often they’re not the best in the day to day conduct of school or business, but they have some special gift that eventually reveals itself. Quite often, these people are underachievers who struggle with Shyness and low self-esteem. Their surprising success is surprising only because they’ve deliberately tried to stay in the background.

I think you can see how each of these three categories seems quite Legitimate — but it’s the fourth one that’s really most important for this program. And you may be surprised to learn that the fourth category questions or even completely refutes the other three. Because the fourth category includes everybody.

It’s based on the idea that we all have the potential for achievements that are wrongly considered possible for only a few. And there’s plenty of evidence for this. After all, the physical and mental challenges of learning to walk and talk are more difficult than anything we face later in life — yet the vast majority of human beings meet these challenges successfully. True, it’s been argued that these primary skills are hardwired into our genetic makeup. But there are many things that the genetic argument can’t account for.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, for example, it was simply expected that every member of the educated class would be able to read and speak several different languages, write poetry, play a musical instrument, and know much of the Bible by heart. Furthermore, all these skills were performed at a very high level and at very early ages. In other words, thousands of people routinely displayed abilities that today would be considered truly amazing — and perhaps even evidence of genius.

But in those days what we call genius was just the fulfillment of society’s expectations. When we speak of everybody being a genius in this sense, it doesn’t mean everyone has to get 800s on their SATs or have an IQ of 150 or above. It doesn’t mean everybody can play the violin or create beautiful oil paintings. Those are other ways of looking at the concept of genius. But right now, let’s go back to the origin of the word itself.

A researcher by the name of Thomas Armstrong has done some excellent work on this. He points out that the word genius is closely related to the word genesis. It comes from Greek and Latin words meaning “beget,” “be born,” or ” come into being.” It’s also related to the word genial, meaning “festive” or “jovial.”

In the Middle East, the term has been linked to the word jinni, or genie, the magical power that lay dormant and hidden in Aladdin’s lamp until a secret method released it. Combining all these roots leads to a very powerful and beautiful definition of genius. It means “giving birth to your joy.” In this sense, genius is a word for an individual’s hidden potential. It also includes the process of discovering that potential and transforming it into action.

But the first step is belief. The first step is certainty that you have greater capabilities than you thought. Not only do you have those capabilities — you also have a responsibility to develop them and put them to use.
